Why is everything in this issue tracker and wiki public?

Transparency, sharing and mutual support are some of the most radical concepts of the Internet. They are also the foundations of building political movements.

We are purposefully opening our wiki and issue tracker up to the world in order to strengthen the organization and to contribute our thinking beyond our organization. Many people who will never directly interact with May First/People Link can benefit from the issues encountered by our members and the solutions we come up with to solve them. Why should we keep this information to ourselves?

In addition, we are interested in transparency and accountability. We would like the world to review and critique the timeliness and quality of our responses.

And finally, we are a membership organization. Our goal is to operate collectively. Unlike most service providers, who treat each client individually, our goal is to organize our membership together, so each member can explore and pursue opportunities for working with and supporting other members. The public wiki is a space for our members to find out who else is part of our organization.
