Goals of the Project
- Broaden the participation in movement tech projects to include activists working with US people of color groups
- Increase awareness and value of free/open source software among people of color movements in the US
- Build anti-racists practices into the movement tech culture
- Strengthen skills and experience with system administration using free and open source software among people of color activists
Outcomes
- Increased free/open source advocacy by participants
- Increased participation in movement technology projects by participants
- Adoption or management of free/open source technology in participants' organizations
- Stronger free/open source system administration skills of participants
Evaluation Questions Pre/Post for Mentees
- What free/open source software is in use at your organization?
- What role do you play in managing it?
- How likely are you to recommend free/open source software to your colleages (not likely, sometimes, often)?
- How likely are you to work on a movement-related tech project outside your direct job responsibilities (not likely, sometimes, often)?
- How confident are you with installing an operating system (never done it, not confident, somewhat confident, confident)?
- In the last year, how often have you raised the issue of racism in the context of your work (never, a few times, frequently)?
