MFPL Allied Media Conference 2012

For the 2012 AMC we are planning both a day long network event and a workshop in the web track.

Idea for Fundraiser: $5,001 on 5/1!

Materials

  • Printed postcard: Mostly covers network event mentions party + 5/1 fund drive
  • Online only postcard: emphasizes party + fund drive (mentions network event)
  • $5001 on 5/1 web site

Timeline

  • March 8: Network Event Description finalized, with image, sent to Morgan (Mallory)
  • March 14: Workshop submitted (Hilary and Ross)
  • March 15: Lowdown announcing Network event is released
  • March 15: Date/Place Chosen for Fundraiser and booked (Sat, April 28th or Mon, April 30/Brecht Forum)
  • March 15: Start booking talent for the fund raiser
  • March 15: Start researching members to target outreach to
  • March 22: Research report on May Day Activities
  • March 22: First part post card draft + draft 5/1 donation ask page
  • March 22: Discuss strategy for adding fundraising to main MFPL sites (control panel, support page, etc.)
  • March 29: Report on Research members to target outreach to (about 75 for general and 5 - 10 as partners)
  • March 29: Finalized party postcard + draft 5/1 donation ask page

April:

  • April 1: All MFPL Email: First party email + 5/1 Donation drive + Network Event announcement
  • April 1: Implement strategy for adding fundraising info to main MFPL sites
  • April 1: All talent is confirmed
  • April 1: Assign phone calls, which will be made throughout the month
  • April 7: mail postcard
  • April 7: Lowdown goes out with party and Network event details
  • April 23: Lowdown Party email (with network event mention)
  • April 27: All MFPL Email (segmented to NYC): Party reminder (with network event)
  • April 29: buy drinks/cups/other for party
  • April 30: Lowdown Reminder: final email blast for party
  • April 30: all target outreach groups have been called

May:

  • May 1: All MFPL email: donate to 5/1 on 5/1
  • May 1: Major web site change to ask people for donations
  • May 7: Lowdown goes out with network event details and report on fundraising
  • May 15: Targetted emails to invite groups to participate in the network Event
  • All month: Follow up phone calls

June:

  • June 7: Lowdown goes out with network event details
  • June 26 - 27: Techies of Color Event
  • June 27: Network event participants arrive
  • June 28: Network Event!

July:

  • July 7: Lowdown: Report on network event
  • July 15: Fundraising report to AMC
