Member-to-Member Project

What is it?

The Member-to-Member project helps members get to know each other, contribute to the thinking of the organization, and develop what it means to be a member.

The goal is to conduct and document 15 - 20 meetings between members of May First/People Link. While staff (Alfredo and Jamie) will be conducting most of the initial membership meeting, we'd like to encourage any member to visit and document what any other members is doing. The documentation part (pictures please!) should include a description of what the organization is doing in general and on the Internet and the role May First/People Link plays in their work. The documentation will be used as part of our new web site, featuring the work of our members.

Some questions to get the ball rolling include:

  1. What does your organization do?
  2. What are some of the political trends that you expect to influence your work in the coming 2 - 3 years?
  3. How does your organization use the Internet?
  4. How has MF/PL membership affected that work?
  5. What would you like to do and be able to do on the Internet and how should MF/PL membership contribute to that?
  6. What kind of organization do you think MF/PL should be? What kind of structure do you think we need for leadership, decision-making, etc.
  7. We want you to bring every organization you work with into MF/PL. What does our staff and current leadership need to do to make that happen?

Jamie's going to Boston and will be hooking up with:

January 2008

Alfredo will be scheduling meetings with the Brecht Forum and the War Resisters League.

Jamie and Amanda are visiting AWAAM on January 23

February 2008

Jamie is planning a trip to Washington to meet with the Praxis Project, CISPES and the Detention Watch Network.
