2016 Structure Proposal

This structure proposal defines our working structure for 2016 as discussed at our February meeting. May First/People Link will use the following meetings to organize our work for the coming year. With the exception of the Leadership Committee meeting, all meetings are open to both LC and non LC members.

Admin meeting

  • Meeting Day: First Thursday of the month
  • Time: 12:00 pm Mexico/1:00 pm NY
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Chairs: Jamie, Sandra
  • Attendees: 3 - 4 members of US and Mexico operations
  • Purpose: to coordinate finances, daily operations and address operational issues of the organizations, such as restructuring the membership dues.

Campaign meeting

  • Meeting Day: Third Thursday of the month
  • Time: 6:00 pm Mexico/7:00 pm NY
  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Chairs: Alfredo
  • Attendees: 15 - 20 members of both LC and general membership
  • Purpose: To plan the movement work of our organization and to involve members in our organizing efforts. This meeting will eventually be publicized to full membership.

Leadership Committee meeting

  • Meeting Day: Third Thursday of the month
  • Time: 7:00 pm Mexico/8:30 pm NY (immediately following Campagin meeting)
  • Duration: 1.5 hours
  • Chairs: Juan Gerardo, (To be decided)
  • Attendees: Members of the Leadership Committee
  • Purpose: To make decisions on issues that come up in the Admin and Campaign meetings that require LC approval and to provide overall direction to the Admin and Campaign meetings.

Support Team work session

  • Meeting Day: First Saturday of the month, 4 times a year
  • Time: 12:00 pm Mexico/1:00 pm US
  • Duration: 10 hours
  • Chairs: Jamie
  • Attendees: Support team members with root access (11 people have access, approximately 4 - 6 participate in sessions like this) Purpose: carry out necessary upgrades and maintenance in our infrastructure. These meetings would replace the existing once a month meetings of the support team.
