    55== Goals ==

    2222While Jamie (MFPL) will take the lead role and put in the main hours on the project, he will be working very closely with a defined PTP group that will provide timely feedback and direction. All discussion will happen in public forums (preferably as a ticket on https://support.mayfirst.org/). All documents will also be published via a wiki that can track changes (also, preferably on https://support.mayfirst.org/).

     24== Needs ==
     25
     26This project will not identify the One True Database. Instead, it is designed to find a free database the most closely meets the needs of grassroots organizing groups in the United States. We've specifically identified a [wiki:projects/crm_review/features a limited lists of features] that we will be using in our evaluation.
     27
     28== Projects under consideration ==
     29
     30At the moment, we are considering:
     31
     32 * [http://civicrm.org CiviCRM]
     33 * [http://www.sugarforge.org/ SugarCRM]
     34
     35== Results ==
     36
     37This project is a work in progress. We are [wiki:projects/crm_review/report publishing the results] as we go.
     38
    2439== Proposed/Initial Timeline ==
    2540
    26  * Week one
     41 * Deadline: June 13
    2742  * Create the team and come to agreement on goals of the project by modifying this proposal until everyone is in agreement with it.
    28   * Begin developing a needs document that outlines what features we are looking for
     43  * Create first draft of [wiki:projects/crm_review/features features] that we will be looking at
    2944  * Agree on an initial short list of software packages to consider
    3045
    31  * Week two
    32   * Continue developing needs document
    33   * Begin demo installation of software package list.
    34   * Begin evaluating packages against list
     46 * Deadline: June 27
     47  * Incorporate feedback from groups about features (PTP responsibility)
     48  * Have running demo versions of all packages under consideration installed with logins available to project participants
     49  * Have preliminary [wiki:projects/crm_review/report evaluations] based on agreed upon features
     50  * Next group conference call scheduled
    3551
    36  * Week three
    37   * Evaluate where we are. Are we coming close to finding a good package? Do we need to start over again? Or is it obvious that a package is the perfect candidate so no need to continue?
    38   * Depending on the outcome... continue package evaluation
     52 * Deadline: Date of conference call (mid July)
     53  * Most features have been [wiki:projects/crm_review/report reviewed] for each software package chosen
     54  * Mid-project evaluation: next steps are determined, final deadline re-evaluated.
    3955
    40  * Week four
    41   * Write up final evaluation and notes
     56 * Deadline: August 1
     57  * Final [wiki:projects/crm_review/report report] completed.
