Network Event/Peoples Movements Assembly Agenda

Basic outline:

  • 9:00 - 9:30 am: coffee, bagels
  • 9:30 - 11:00 am: Panel: Active Organizing Campaign: What is working with Internet Organizing Tools? What concerns do you have? What do you want to see?
    • Proposed speakers:
      • People's Movement Assembly (Rasha)
      • Occupy Boston (?Ross to propose and contact someone)
      • MagNet (?Hilary to propose, ideally an MFPL member if possible)
      • APC (Mallory to propose, pending selection by APC)
      • Mauricio (enrique to contact and discuss possibility of presentation)
    • Notes taken online (and projected for those in the room), noting all concerns for tech presenters to address
  • 11:15 - 11:30 am: Break
  • 11:30 - 1:00 pm: Tech Demo Rotation, introduced and framed by Alfredo. We split the group into the number of presenters we have. We split the time available by the number of presenters. Each presenter demonstrates to their small group and takes questions, then we rotate and repeat.
    • Sparkleshare (alternative to Dropbox - could be Jamie to present)
    • Occupy Facebook alternative (Ross to choose)
    • Status Net (need candidate - either developer or MFPL support team member who can demonstrate)
    • Diaspora (need candidate - either developer or MFPL support team member who can demonstrate)
    • OpenPGP web of trust (MFPl support team member)
  • 1:00 - 2:00 pm: lunch
  • 2:00 - 3:30 pm: Small group discussions: Which of these technologies should May First/People Link prioritize among our members?
  • 3:30 - 3:45 pm: break
  • 3:45 - 5:00 pm: Report back and discussion - plan what proposals to take to MFPL members meeting
