How Can I Share documents?

MF/PL members have access to our shared ownCloud server at https://share.mayfirst.org/.

Through share.mayfirst.org, you can:

  • Store up to 5GB (ask us for more space if you need it) of files, than can be synchronized to your desktop computer or mobile phone and shared with other users of the site
  • Synchronize/backup your phone contacts to a trusted server (no need to send your contact list to Google)
  • Synchronize your calendar with your phone (experimental)

You can get started right away by going to https://share.mayfirst.org/ and entering your MF/PL username (you can use any valid username - your email login, SFTP login, etc.

How do I synchronize files with my desktop computer?

First, download the ownCloud program for your operating system:

http://owncloud.org/sync-clients/

You will be prompted to pick a folder on your own computer to store your files.

Then, you will be prompted to enter the server address for your owncloud installation, which is:

https://share.mayfirst.org/

Then you will need to enter your username and password. That's it!

How do I synchronize with my mobile phone?

You can download either the android app or the iPhone app. You'll be asked the same questions as the ones above.

Wait!! This apps costs money! The android app does cost $.99 from the Googe Store, however, it is free/open source (available on github). Your $.99 goes to help the developers continue to build free and open source software for the world. If you really can't afford the $.99 you can install fdroid (a alternative repository for android apps) and install it at no cost.
