4 [wiki:freeswitch-mexcla mexcla] is May First/People Link's simultaneous interpretation conference call system.
4Mexcla is May First/People Link's simultaneous interpretation conference call system.
    55
6 You can access mexcla via the web by typing the following into your web browser:
6This page documents how to access mexcla via a web browser, you can also [wiki:freeswitch-mexcla access mexcla via the phone].
     7
8Your conference organizer should provide you with a link to click on to access your conference. It should look something like:
    79
    810!https://live.mayfirst.org/mexcla/123
    911
10 Replace 123 with a number between 1 and 64000 to determine the conference room you would like to be in.
    11
12 The interface language matches your browser' settings for preferred language to read the contents of the web pages.
12The "123" represents the conference room you are meeting in. Your conference organizer will pick a number for your conference that most likely will be different that "1123."

1414== How does it work? ==
    1515
1616 * When you visit the page, you are presented with a box to fill in your name and a button that says "Connect"
17  * When you click the Connect button it will change to Connecting...
18  * You will be asked by your browser for permission to use the microphone (on Chromium this only happens the first time you connect to a server, provided it's an https site, so if this step does not happen it does not necessarily mean a failure)
19  * After a few seconds, it changes to "Connected" and the phone icon red slash disappears.
20  * You should hear an announcement of the conference room number you are in and, possibly "You are the only person in call" or something to that effect.
    21
22 Mexcla works on Firefox and Iceweasel starting around version 23 (version 35 on android). It works on Chrome and chromium version 28 and higher (probably lower but this version is tested). With recent versions of chromium, you have to pass the --no-sandbox option until this [https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=770659 bug is fixed].
     17[[Image(mexcla-connect.png)]]
18 * When you click the Connect button your browser will ask you to share your microphone. You should agree to share it.
     19[[Image(mexcla-share-mic.png)]]
20 * Next you should be in the conference call.  ou should hear an announcement of the conference room number you are in and, possibly "You are the only person in call" or something to that effect.
