3The CMPCC forum in Cochambamba in April 2010 was a tremendous leap forward in mobilizing a global movement around climate change and the rights of Mother Earth.

55The COP 16 in Cancun in November 2010 represents the next step in the mobilization effort.

7 Despite major advances in Internet and alternative media, we are still facing significant hurdles in both moblization and collaboration. The primary hurdle is that full participation requires travel to the site of the mobilization. For any movement, but particularly an environmental movement of people with few resources, this hurdle is unacceptable. We made significant progress in this regard in Cochabamba by providing a live video stream of the major events, which allowed hundreds of more people the ability to watch the proceedings. However, we still face obstacles including:
7However, despite major advances with the Internet and alternative media, we are only reaching a fraction of the people who want to participate in this movement and whose involvement is critical to our success.

9  1. Most tech and video work was cocentrated in the hands of people physically on location who were overwhelmed with logistical and other tech issues that competed with the task of distributing the proceedings and experiences outside of the event location.
10  1. Not enough people are live video streaming and those that are streaming are sending to a hodge podge of proprietary services making it difficult to share and collaborate.
9The Cochabamba tech team made significant progress in this regard in Cochabamba by providing a live video stream of the major events and an easily navigable web site pulling in thousands of articles, recordings and images of the event, which allowed thousands of people, who were unable to physically attend, the ability to participate. However, we still face obstacles including:
     10
11 1. Most tech and video organizing happened onsite, limiting our capacity to the technologists able to travel to Cochabamba.
12 1. Many of the participants had web cams built into their laptops or smart phones with video cameras, yet only a tiny fraction were mobolized to use them for the bigger media campaign
1113 1. Not enough people who are video taping activities are following through to upload their videos to any site, much less a centralized site.
1214 1. Not enough people are notified about the video schedule with enough advance notice to organize screenings or otherwise plan to watch

3335Those archives will join other material in the archives section of the site: directly uploaded video, links to video on other sites, rss feeds of videos stored elsewhere. This would make this the most comprehensive video storage and display system we have ever done.
    3436
35 To make this happen we would need:
     37== Plan ==
    3638
37 1 -- To develop the streaming system by writing and adapting code
    38
39 2 -- To develop a recruitment, orientation and training system to develop video teams in strategic locations
    40
41 3 -- To organize and spread the word about the archiving system
    42
43 4 -- To develop and place a team of producers/managers to make the decisions about the site and content.
     391. Develop a live, web-based, video switching web site that will serve as a central collaboration hub for incoming video
     401. Create extensive documentation, including both written and video, explaining how anyone can use their existing video equipment (Laptop or smart phone) to send video over the Internet to the collaboration server.
     411. Organize a recruitment, orientation and training campaign to develop video teams in strategic locations
     421. Carryout an extensive public relations campaign to advertise the site and schedule of vide
     431. Coordinate a team of producers/managers to make the decisions about the site and content.
