[[PageOutline]] = Mexcla on the web = Mexcla is May First/People Link's simultaneous interpretation conference call system. This page documents how to access mexcla via a web browser, you can also [wiki:freeswitch-mexcla access mexcla via the phone]. Your conference organizer should provide you with a link to click on to access your conference. It should look something like: !https://live.mayfirst.org/mexcla/123 The "123" represents the conference room you are meeting in. Your conference organizer will pick a number for your conference that most likely will be different that "1123." == How does it work? == When you visit the page, you are presented with a box to fill in your name and a button that says "Connect." The name you choose will be used to identify you to the other callers. [[Image(mexcla-connect.png)]] When you click the Connect button your browser will ask you to share your microphone. You should agree to share it (if you are using the Chrome browser, you will only be asked to share the microphone the first time you visit the page). [[Image(mexcla-share-mic.png)]] Now you should be in the conference call. You should hear an announcement of the conference room number you are in and, possibly "You are the only person in call" or something to that effect. [[Image(mexcla-in-call.png)]] == Switching Languages == Suppose the phone call is in both English and Spanish. By default, all conference participants have "hear original voices" selected. That means you hear everyone in the language they are speaking. If you are bi-lingual, this is the place to stay - you don't need to press any buttons during the call. If you are mono-lingual (for example, English only), you should remain here until you hear someone speaking Spanish. At that point, click the "Hear interpreation" button to hear the interpreter translating the speaker's words into English. At a certain point, the Spanish speaker will stop speaking and an English speaker will begin speaking. When that happens the interpreter will start speaking Spanish. When you hear the interpreter speaking Spanish, click "hear original voices" so you can hear the speaker in their original English language. If you are the interpreter, click the "Provide interpretation" button. This button will allow you to hear all voices in the "original languages" room but when you speak, only people in the "Hear interpretation" room will hear you. == Admin == More info on [wiki:freeswitch-mexcla-html5-admin administering mexcla-html5 is also available].
