When I use webmail, my email messages are sent from a strange email address

When you send a message using webmail/Horde, your from address may look strange - for example, it might read something like: username@mail.mayfirst.org.

That's because you have not set your from address in your personal settings.

With Roundcube, follow these instructions to set your identity:

First login

When you login for the first time, you are prompted to enter your identity information. That's the easiest way to do it!

If you didn't do it when you first logged in, no worries, you can do it at any time.

Also, you can add more then one identity.

Click Settings

First, click the Settings menu in the top right corner.

Click Identities

Review existing identities

Edit an existing identity

Optionally, you can edit an existing identity by clicking on that identity

Or, add a new identity

Be sure to save when you are done

  • Click Settings (gear icon) in top right hand corner
  • Under the Settings column, click Identities
  • Click on the identity that is there and your info will show up on the right hand side
  • Edit your info appropriately, especially the Email address.
  • Click Save.

Horde

With the Horde/IMP webmail program, you can control how your email messages are sent by setting up your Default Identity:

  • Click the Gear icon -> Preferences -> Mail
  • Click Personal Information
  • By default you will see the settings for your "Default identity."
  • Enter any changes you would like (most importantly your from address)
  • Optionally, you can also make new identities that will allow you to send mail from different email accounts. If you add more than one identity you'll get a drop-down every time you send me that will give you the option to choose from the identities you have created.
