#8766 assigned Bug/Something is broken

Need redirect for incorrect url in eblast

Reported by: https://id.mayfirst.org/thenewpress Owned by: https://id.mayfirst.org/ross
Priority: Urgent Component: Tech
Keywords: email-blast Cc:
Sensitive: no

Description

An organization sent out an eblast for one of our authors and the & in the url for the book was converted to html. I just put a redirect in through the control panel. Will this work or will the html be an issue there?

Here is the link that was in the eblast: http://thenewpress.com/index.php?option=com_title&task=view_title&metaproductid=1893

Here is the correct link: http://thenewpress.com/index.php?option=com_title&task=view_title&metaproductid=1893

People are clicking on the eblast and can't actually get to the link to buy the book so this is urgent on our end if there is anything we can do.

Thanks!

Hi,

What did you use to send the email?

I am looping Ross in to answer your redirect question.

Thanks,

Dana

Hi newpress,

I've tried many different ways to get this domain to redirect correctly, but have not succeeded. The problem is that apache doesn't by default handle dynamic urls (urls with ?options_blah&etc). Supposedly it's possible to use query strings for this problem (see https://wiki.apache.org/httpd/RewriteQueryString ) and I experimented with a number of them. Unfortunately, I simply cannot get it to work correctly. I'm not sure what to tell you about this.

I can keep experimenting, but at this point I'm not very confident,

Hi Ross,

I am so sorry for not responding to this until now. Thank you for trying to sort it out!

I hope you went ahead and assumed you did not need to spend any more time on it.

Thanks,

Emily
