same drill as last time, hopefully the ideas at wiki:how-to/roundcube-upgrade haven't bit-rotted too much.

We should upgrade roundcube.dev, do an initial verification, call for testers, then upgrade r.m.o.

Hey Steve, assigning you this ticket since you were working on Roundcube at the last face to face. If this isn't you, you can just re-assign the ticket to that person. Thanks!

Thanks Dana. I'll start scoping out 0.9.3.

  • Description modified (diff)
  • Summary changed from roundcube just released 0.9.3 -- we should upgrade to roundcube just released 0.9.4 -- we should upgrade

0.9.3 has been superseded by 0.9.4 -- when this gets rolling, we should go ahead with 0.9.4, which sounds like a bugfix release on top of 0.9.3.

I've just tagged roundcube 0.9.4 and pushed it to https://roundcube.dev.mayfirst.org/ -- please test it and report back. I'd like to roll it out to the main roundcube installation ASAP, since we are overdue for several security-related updates.

I ran some basic functionality tests all seemed to work:

  1. Added a contact to the address book.
  2. Checked my inbox
  3. Sent a message
  4. Created a new folder
  5. Marked a message
  6. Changed a setting (# of messages per page)
  7. Compacted folders (though I'm not sure what it does, it said it was successful).

There don't appear to be any obvious problems with the upgrade, though roundcube.dev is painfully slow. Hopefully, someone who uses roundcube with more regularity can take a look, but from my perspective the upgrade can be put into production.

I've done a few tests on roundcube.dev.mayfirst.org

  • logging in
  • sorting inbox by different columns
  • reading individual messages
  • composing messages
  • replying to messages
  • sending and receiving attachments
  • searching
  • reading mail in different mailboxes
  • viewing message source
  • downloading messages as .eml files

So far, everything looks fine to me.

I didn't notice any unusual slowness. Responsiveness seems normal for roundcube.

No reservations about putting this into production.

Thanks for the testing, Steve and Ross. I'm going to go ahead and push this into production.
