hey guys, i handle backend for, and i think it's time for me to upgrade drupal from 4.7 to 5.0. do you guys have any documentation for this? i know i need to back up the database and all that jazz, but i'm not too sure what comes after that. i'm a volunteer webmaster, and i'd like to avoid spending a ton of time researching this. if you have any advice, great. if not, well, i'll just go look it up.

thanks in advance, debra

Hi Debra,

Yup - we sure do have documentation. We have a upgrade drupal page on our wiki. It is a bit daunting! But we are happy to hold your hand through the process. I would suggest reading through the wiki, ask questions about the process, and then propose a date/time that you'd like to do the upgrade. That way we can be sure it's time when we think we'll be available to help with questions or problems you might have.

ok, i've read through your wiki, i know a little something about ssh (on pc, at least, but i'm on a mac now and i'm not sure what client i need). i also was looking at the drupal site itself ( and it's basically telling me to backup everything and then install the new version.

should we attempt to set up a time for some hand-holding? my current site only has a handful of modules, so it shouldn't be too painful (fingers crossed).

Also - ssh should be installed by default on a Macintosh. See our ssh faq for directions on how to access it on a Mac.
