question re domain names/structure

Description

I am a novice, a mayfirst member, and I currently administer the following domains hosted by mayfirst:

grandjuryresistance.org protestarchive.org r2klegal.protestarchive.org

One of my intentions with the domain protestarchive.org was to make it a "hub" for various historical mass protest sites not currently active. The domain r2klegal.protestarchive.org is one example of this, but there are others that I'd like to include, such as the StopFTAA site from circa 2003.

My question: is there a benefit to structuring the domains as r2klegal.protestarchive.org and stopftaa.protestarchive.org, rather than protestarchive.org/r2klegal and protestarchive.org/StopFTAA? If not, how can I change my domain structure to reflect the latter?

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi Kris,

This question is highly contingent. However, if you don't expect much traffic on these sites, then it would probably be easier to manage using a single hosting order with different directories for the sites.

Thus, to follow the second approach protestarchive.org/StopFTAA, you would simply login to your protestarchive.org account using sftp or ssh and create a directory StopFTAA where you would put all of the files for that site.

It might be worth looking at some of our faqs https://support.mayfirst.org/wiki/faq
