Description (last modified by https://id.mayfirst.org/popedarchive)

Hi -

I am in the process of transferring my site from my local computer (localhost) to the May First server, but I'm having trouble logging into the May First MySQL server.

I directed my browser to the phpadmin page for my primary host: https://stone.mayfirst.org/phpmyadmin and first tried the username and password for my account (popedarchive).

I then tried to locate the database username and password using the directions I found here: https://support.mayfirst.org/wiki/database_password. I opened up my site in gFTP and checked to make sure that "show hidden files" was selected in the preferences. But I don't see the .my.cnf file that is supposed to be revealed.

I also tried to locate the "settings.php" file that this post mentions - https://support.mayfirst.org/ticket/3272 - but I had no luck finding that.

I also looked at this page but didn't see anything for revealing files in gFTP: https://support.mayfirst.org/wiki/faq/show-hidden-files

So, I could use some help finding the username and password for the phpmyadmin page

Thanks, Sarah

So I actually figured out what the problem was - after poking around the Member control panel I found that I didn't have any users under the "MySQL database user" tab. I went in, created a username and password (same as my Member login) and gave myself full access to the database and then I was able to login.

I didn't find any information about adding MySQL users in the tickets or FAQs, and it seems like a pretty important step in transferring a database via phpmyadmin. It might be helpful to include some information about that in the "How do I copy my MySQL database from one site to another?" page. I'm guessing other members will have had trouble with this as well!

Thanks, Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I'm glad you were able to figure it out, but for the record this faq does say you may need to create a database user https://support.mayfirst.org/wiki/create_mysql_database . I also think it might be helpful to have this in the control panel on the database tab itself. I'll open another ticket for this request.
