FTP problem, again ;(

Reported by: andrew lynn Owned by: Jamie McClelland
Priority: Urgent Component: Tech
Keywords: ftp css Cc: pierce@…
Sensitive: no

Description

my username 'lynn' WAS part of the group that could right theme files to the server: nyma.mayfirst.org. it seems that i am now not part of that group (or something)

the problem is that our center column is displaying below the sidecolumns on IE. argh. it is urgent because The Sanctuary for Independent Media has been closed down by corrupt city officials and we are moving to organize protest and need the website. ahhh!

any help on either and/or both of these problems would be greatly appreciated. i can also be reached at 518-573-7947. Thank You mayfirst!!!!

You mean you could upload files before and no longer can? Why? What happened?

The admin user for this site is nymaa.

Do you not have the password for that?

https://members.mayfirst.org/resetpass/

will send the new password info to the billing contact for this hosting order who is probably moose or one of those guys. Will this help at all?

Let us know.

i am not sure what happen.

i realize that nyma is the admin. even though i am able to login to the members website with nyma, i can not write files via sftp.

but... moreover, i would like for my username - lynn - to be able to write files via sftp, as i am the main website themer.

as i recall, at one point i WAS able to do so. so something must have changed. when this happened before, i think Jamie mentioned that i was not part of the right 'group', but not sure.

thanks for the reply.

Hi Andrew - I just tried you by phone but was not able to get a hold of you.

Sorry this is so difficult! We did have a problem before with ticket #388 (the nyma user was not properly setup with ssh access) however, that should now be fixed.

Can you tell us which files you are trying to edit? The nyma user should have write access to all files in the sites directory. The nyma user does not have write access to files in the main themes directory (because that is the server-wide shared drupal installation - those files should not be edited).

As for using the lynn username - we could change the ownership of all the nyma files to lynn - however, I don't think that would be a good solution. If we did that - then there would be no way for the nyma folks to write to those files if they could not get in touch with you.

Another solution would be to upload your ssh public key to the nyma user's home directory. That way you could get into the site without having to mess with the password. If you would like help with that, just let us know.
