Creating Backup Access

Reported by: adrienne@… Owned by: Jamie McClelland

Description

Hello,

I have created the following users with usernames in the members.mayfirst.org section:

Claudia Wilner - cwilner, TT To - ttto, Josh Zinner - jzinner

Each of these three users should have access to the share folder and their respective user folder. Is this possible?

Many thanks! --ak

Ok - these users have been authorized to access the nedap shared backup files (but without access to the finance folder). Do you need to restrict user access to other user directories? Currently, all users have access to all user directories.

Wow! That was fast!

No, each user should be restricted to only that user's folder. They should not be able to access any other folder in the user folder.

Thank you! --ak

Can I add Dey Del Rio to the batch, too? She should have restricted access to only the share and user folder--her user folder only.

Also, Josh Zinner should have access to the financial drive.

Hi ak - I'm having some trouble getting the permissions to work right. I should get this done by tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

Ok - permissions should be working. I can't definitely match usernames with the appropriate user directory - since usernames are first initial last name and user directories are first name. Below is the mapping I've used:

awheeler -> Adrienne
cwilner -> Claudia
ttto -> TT
jzinner -> ??
ddelrio -> Dey

Let me know which directory jzinner should point to and if I've made any mistakes with the others. Thanks!

Also: I've updated the authentication mechanism. It now uses "OpenID" - so instead of logging in with, for example, awheeler, you will need to enter: https://id.mayfirst.org/awheeler. If you have any trouble, please post to the ticket. Thanks!

Wonderful! I will keep you updated on any updates!

jzinner should match with Josh on the user drive.

Thank you, Jamie!
