Description

Hi there, I'm not able to delete any emails from the server when I access my account via Roundcube. (This is a new service you've activated, right? Are there some special new instructions when using it? And, is it possible to have my stacey@… address appear as sender instead of @mayfirst.org ?) Also, when I respond to emails via Roundcube, recipients get error messages and can not write me back.

In addition, I can't access my account, via Roundcube, on my iPhone. I'm able to log in, but can not adjust the screen size or access mail easily.

There are several issues in here, i'll try to address them separately:

deleting mail

I can delete mail in roundcube by selecting the message or messages to delete in the message-list pane, and then clicking the "Delete" button (it has a trash can icon). This moves the selected messages to the trash folder.

I can empty the trash folder by clicking the trash folder in the folder-list pane, and then choosing "Empty" from the gear menu in the lower left.

Does this not work for you? if so, where does it fail? do you get error messages?

choosing sender address

When you compose a message, you should see a dropdown list for the "From:" address. it might only have your initial e-mail there -- if so, you should be able to add new choices by clicking the "edit identities" link that is just next to it.

respondent error messages

i'd like to see a copy of the error messages that people get, if that's possible. Could you try sending me an e-mail so i can replicate the problem? You can mail me at dkg@fifthhorseman.net

mobile device access

It looks like there is some discussion about styling for mobile devices that is currently happening by the developers of roundcube. I think this needs a separate ticket for discussion, so i've broken it out into #6464. we can use this ticket to focus on the other three points you've raised.

I just noted on #6464 that switching to the "Classic" skin seems to work better for low-res screens. Can you try that on your mobile device?

Stacey, did you have a chance to follow up on any of the points raised here in comment:1 ?

In particular, if you can send me an e-mail referencing this ticket (#6462) through roundcube, i can try to see the problems your correspondents are reporting to you.

I've discovered and fixed the deleting problem from roundcube. Apparently there was no .Trash directory in the Maildir directory and roundcube needs that in order to properly delete files. I'm not sure if it should auto generate that directory if it doesn't exist, though. Regardless, I've gone ahead and created this directory for Stacey, so the deleting problem should be fixed.

Ross, thanks! I see the fix you describe was over in #6361 as well.

There are several other questions in this ticket besides deleting though, so i'd like to keep it open to figure out how we can resolve them. I'm re-titling this ticket to refer to the remaining issues.

HI there, Unfortunately, I am still not able to delete mail when accessing via Roundcube. The following error message appears in box when I try to: "An error occurred. Connection to storage server failed." So, thanks again for looking into this. Stacey

hi there, i have resolved 2 of the 4 problems i originally wrote to you about in this ticket. resolved are: choosing sender address & respondent error message. thanks for your help with those two!

still outstanding is deleting from roundcube. i get the following message in a box: "An Error Occurred. Connection to Storage Server Failed."

and, i still need instructions on how to update the iPhone 3G to access mayfirst's site.

so for this ticket, we're working on deleting mail.

i just noticed that our IMAP server (courier) didn't think you were "subscribed" to your Trash folder, even though it existed. I just made an attempt to subscribe you manually -- can you let me know if you're now able to delete mail?

tech note for future reference: here's me checking the presence of the .Trash folder and the list of subscribed folders:

Hi there I'll likely be working remotely in the next week or so, and could really use a functioning inbox via roundcube. Again, i can't delete any emails. Error message is "Connection to Storage Server Failed." Any help is appreciated. thank you! Stacey

Hi Stacey,

I believe this was my fault, I simply created the .Trash directory when I needed to issue the maildirmake command instead. I've remedied this on your account. Can you try deleting now and see if it works?
