Is there a reason why the sensitive flag is set on this ticket? Lori, setting a ticket to sensitive means that people other than the reporter and the support team won't be able to see it.

I think this question (and the resulting workflow in finding and clearing the block) would benefit everyone from being public. Would you be OK with removing the sensitive flag? If not, can you help me understand what part of this ticket needs to be kept quasi-confidential?

Hi, please feel free to remove the 'sensitive' tag.
Thank you,

Hi Lori - can you tell me why you think you are being blocked? Do you have bounces or any error reports? Is there a particular email that you think did not get through (if so - can you tell me the approximate date and time that the email was sent and the domain that it was sent to - you don't have to give me the exact email address). With this information I can confirm what happened to the address.

StratusWave's tech support has verified that a Postini block had been imposed in the past. Additionally, legitgov.org email automatically filters to the junkmail bin of professors at some universities and colleges that use Google integrated with for their email service, such as NYU. I know this factually. Also, I have been told over and over again by people with Gmail that the CLG Newsletters do not arrive.
Please take the steps to remove this block.
Thank you.

Hi Lori,

I wish I knew what steps to take! If I did, I wouldn't hesitate to take them.

It's clear to us when google is blocking us - because it's reported in our mail logs. However, our logs show no indication of being blocked, and, in the last 5 days, we have had 21,671 deliveries to gmail.

It is very likely that messages are being delivered to spam folders - but that isn't something we can fix.

I'm open to suggestions - if you come across anything that we can do on a server level, let us know and we'll do it.

Perhaps we could get more detail from StratusWave's tech support about how they've verified the existence of a Postini block, since we apparently aren't seeing it?

Also, this seems to be related to #4201 -- are they really the same underlying issue? if they are, can we combine them and and keep the discussion all in one place?

There is a block with the Google service that provides 'spam' protection. If one has a Gmail.com address, and marks the CLG Newsletter as an approved contact, the CLG Newsletter will arrive. But Google has a university/corporate 'service' that has decided that email from either MayFirst or Legitgov.org should not always reach the intended client.
As to how to fix the problem, as a major webhoster, is there a way for MayFirst to contact Google and have MayFirst/Legitgov.org removed from their blocked list?
Regarding StratusWave, a tech support person told me that he wrote to Google remove the block. He's taken that action on a few occasions after I've contacted him (as a StratusWave client was blocked at the time) and I then notice an up-tick in email feedback regarding the CLG Newsletter, etc. All is fine for a couple of weeks, then (I believe) the block gets re-imposed. As an individual as opposed to a webhoster, I don't believe I have the ability to get the block on MayFirst/Legitgov.org removed.
Thank you,
Lori Price

Hi, folks.
Assatta.mayfirst.org is in the SORBS spam directory. Is there a way to get mayfirst.org de-listed? I tried submitting a form; however, May First might have a better chance to get the domain removed from their spam list.

I checked on mxtoolbox.com and assata.mayfirst.org is still on the SORBS-SPAM list. Is there any way, as the webhoster, you can submit a form for removal from the SORBS spam list?
Thank you,
Lori Price

Addendum: I opened a SORBS account, to try to remove the block. But, SORBS would not let me remove the block, as I am not an administrator of the IP.
Here is the info and response I received:

Address/Netblock/Host Count/Instances Listing Type Latest Occurance
209.51.172.11 1 Spam 23:30:32 24 Mar 2012 GMT+00
209.51.172.11 1 DUHL 07:06:03 30 May 2009 GMT+00
209.51.172.11 1 Spamvertised 23:30:32 24 Mar 2012 GMT+00

Sorry we have been unable to delist your address.
Additional information:
Not Authorised to delist this IP!
Additional Information: You must use the listed IP, or have the network added to your account in the Network Manager to be authorised.

Therefore, only May First can solve the problem. :)

The concern here appears to be SORBS. This is being followed up on #5724.
