Description

Hey gang,

I just saw the awesome site for the Collaborative Democracy workshop meetings.mayfirst.org

YAY!! Just wanted to say mazal tov and thank you for putting the tool out there this way, am eager to learn more how it's going.

I just got involved with a project where I am hoping to use the Rights tool and I went to your site to see what y'all are up to, what's posted about it, etc. (am getting back to some movement/strategy work after a lot of family and local focus for the past couple years...) .. Hope the group I'm working with might be able to use the tool. Other wise I think I will try some sort of markers and paper version. Anyway will be in touch about it, just wanted to say thanks for doing making this.

PS: I didn't know what "type" to put for this comment when posting, hope I'm not misusing the ticket system :(

I won't be in Detroit but I am sure it will be amazing time, sending y'all huge piles of love & respect,

Liza Dichter

QUICK QUESTIONS FOR USING THE DEMOCRACY TOOL;

1) if the room has wireless internet and enabled laptops, does it also need a wireless router?

2) i know it is set for 10 rights, can that be changed to 5? (can easily work around it if not)

(We are hoping to use the tool for a group to develop 5 working principles-- for a group of Public Media Corps fellows who are about to start a community engagement and technology project in DC, http://publicmediacorps.org)

thanks!! Liza

Hi Liza,

1 -- No. All you really need is the connection. The various laptops must be able to connect to the cd workshop website. A wireless room would do that.

2 -- It's set for 10...yeah. It can be changed but I'm not sure how easy that is. At some point, I think we're going to make that configurable but I don't think is yet on the meetings site.

Maybe Jamie has an idea on that?

Yeah - I think it would be a good idea too, but configuring the number of right is not possible now :(.

Great. No worries, it might be good for the group to have 5 top principles and then 5 secondary. I'll let you know how it goes-- and I am eager to read the reportbacks from Motown!!
