Do we get e-mail hosting?

Hi,

We're new Mayfirst members. We have a 65-employee organization. Can we transfer all of our e-mail addresses to be hosted by Mayfirst, or do we need to find a different method for hosting of our e-mail addresses?

Also - do we have to manually enter each address? Is there a limit to how many we can have?

PS - I do know about Democracy in Action, but they don't seem to do actual e-mail hosting, just services around email and communications.

Hi,

Once you are a member of May First/People Link you are co-owner of all of our servers and infrastructure and are free to use it as you need to. Most of our members do use our servers for email delivery and have made the transfer.

Our only caveat is that we need to insulate our members from each other - so that the use of our servers by one members doesn't adversely affect the use by another.

With 65 employees - depending on how you setup the accounts, it could put a strain on the shared server you are on to a degree that would affect other members.

Some of our members overcome this problem by moving to a shared server (and increasing their membership dues to help offset the cost). In other cases, we can work out ways to implement a particular setup that might be a less intensive impact (for example, setting up POP accounts instead of IMAP accounts would have a less resource intensive impact on our servers).

Perhaps we should talk through some of the options? I would be free any time wednesday on. Let us know when a good time for you is.
