Help with IP address

Reported by: Working for Quality Child Care Owned by: Jamie McClelland

  1. Right now the following url: (NOTE: does not include www.) goes to a United Way page.
  1. However, we want the following url: (NOTE: inclusion of www.) to go to the United Way page BUT it does NOT.

In an attempt to make this change (for the to be directed to the United Way page) I went to the DNS records by way of the Members Control panel and changed:

  1. all Domain names that had w4qcc to IP address
  2. changed all domain names from to

QUESTION: Will these changes have any negative effect?? I'm not really sure what I did!!

Change History (4)

The only two records I think you want to change are and By changing these both to, I think you can accomplish what you want.

However, by changing to you effectively removed the record altogether, which caused it to stop responding. I just fixed that now.

Sometimes these changes can take a day or so to fully propagate. Can you check back tomorrow to let us know if it's working?

Type: Question/How do I...?Bug/Something is broken

Hi Jamie,

We need a quick fix. In our attempt to fix things yesterday I think we did change another address that is now inaccessible! Here's the current status:

1) can no longer be accessed. I think Susan did make a change to this account as well on the back end (members control panel). Here's the message from a contractor who holds some of our web pages:

Hi Susan and Shannon, I was trying to access your website and used the bookmark, and it was unavailable. The website is up on our end and I can get to internal pages but can't use this redirect that is located on the UWBA servers.

Wanted to give you a heads-up since that is likely the address people are using to try to get to the site.

2) -- no longer sends you to our web page in UWBA, as it did yesterday.

3) -- Sends you to the proper page, our homepage in UWBA.

Please help. Thanks, Sara

Hi Sara,

I think I see the problem. Among the changes you made yesterday were changing the name server records from to, which broke all the name resolution for the domain :(. I missed this change when I made corrections yesterday. I just fixed it now, but it may take a couple hours to fully propagate.
