DNS CNAME Record

Reported by: nathan@… Owned by: Jamie McClelland
Priority: Urgent Component: Membership/Dues
Keywords: Cc:
Sensitive: no

Description

Hello, I am trying to add a cname record for our domain, icirr.org.

I want to have takeaction.icirr.org goto the page that is housing our advocacy platform, icirr.e-actionmax.com. However, after adding the cname record the domain now brings me to a page with, "No web site is configured at this address".

I am marking this as urgent as we need to have this functional for an action alert that we are sending out tomorrow morning.

Hi Nathan,

Can you please login to the support system? By logging in you will be able to post comments. You can login with the same username and password you use to login to the members control panel.

The error message "No web site is configured at this address" is being provided by actionmax.com, not by an MFPL server.

I don't know who they are or how their servers are setup (the URL http://e-actionmax.com/ provides the same error message), however, I can venture a guess that they expect you to visit the site with the address icirr.e-actionmax.com, not by creating a CNAME (which essentially has you visit the site with the address takeaction.icirr.org).

You could either contact them and ask them to configure your account to allow the domain takeaction.icirr.org or you could change your CNAME to an A record (using your main site's IP address), add this domain to your web site, and then add a Rewrite rule to your Web Config (in your control panel) along these lines:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^takeaction\.icirr\.org$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^$
RewriteRule ^/(.*) icirr.e-actionmax.com/$1 [L,R]
