#1849 closed Question/How do I...? (duplicate)

Email setup question

Reported by: briant@… Owned by: https://id.mayfirst.org/jamie

Description

In the instructions for setting up a new POP account, does 'user name' refer to the Mayfirst login name, or the name on the email address? For example in the soon to be activated social-ecology domain, we have an account that for Mayfirst purposes is called 'info2' but the email address is info@…. Which name is the right one to fill in for configuration purposes?

thanks, Brian.

I *think* I understand the question but I'm not sure. Username is the username. :-) That's the thing you use to log into stuff, etc. That's set in the control panel's username page. There's a separate page for emails and this form links whatever email address name you want to make to an existing user.

In the case you mentioned, if the account is info2, you would go to the email page, make whatever email address you want and use the drop down to link it to info2.

Remember that you can always create more users and, by extension, more email addresses if you need them.

Does that answer?
