email EXTREMELY slow

Description

My email has been really slow for the last few months and seems to be getting even slower? now it is almost 30 seconds to delete an item or go back to inbox.

I don't think it it the computer or internet connection since I tried on other computers. I use foxfire and have emptied the cache and purged deleted items.

Please advise! thanks

Hi Maria,

I'm assuming you are using webmail - if you experiencing the slowness when using a different mail program let us know.

I've just setup a test paper tiger email account and have been working with it via webmail, but haven't been able to replicate the problem. Furthermore, it doesn't seem as though viewsic (your primary host) has been under very heavy load today or in the last few weeks.

You mention in the ticket that the slowness happens when deleting an item or going back to the inbox. Have you noticed a pattern in terms of which of your mailboxes you are operating on when the slowdown happens? For example, if you are deleting a message from a mailbox that has a lot of messages, it might be slow. However, deleting a message from a mailbox with fewer messages might be quicker.

If that patterns seems to fit, we can work on speeding up the process of deleting mail from large mailboxes. However, if that pattern doesn't fit, we should look for other reasons for the slow down.

It sounds like we weren't able to replicate the problem so we couldn't figure out how to fix it back then.

hopefully, the extra hardware we've given to viewsic in the intervening years has helped some. If you still have trouble, please open another ticket and we'll take another try at tracking it down.
