Upgrade node on servers?

Description

Hi! I'm trying to run a few tasks in node on didier server and noticing that it's running Node v10, which is no longer supported. Wondering if it'd be possible to upgrade to node 12, 14 or 16, all of which are still in active maintenance?

Unfortunately the version installed system wide is what is available through the Debian buster repositories. We will upgrade to Debian bullseye eventually but that will only get node.js to version 12.

Probably the best way to get a newer version of node.js is to download it locally to your user's home folder and run your local version.

Thanks so much, that makes total sense! I get nervous about installing things in my user home folder but I don't know why I should be :D
