#16284 assigned Question/How do I...?

Sending Nextcloud calendar invites to non-Mayfirst users on iPhone

Description

I followed the instructions to add my calendar and contacts below, and added the two calendar and contacts URLs as separate accounts on my iPhone: https://support.mayfirst.org/wiki/nextcloud#HowdoIsynchronizewithmymobilephone

I noticed that for events I create on Apple calendar, invitations to non-Mayfirst users don't send. Is that expected behavior? Is using the Nextcloud application the only way to issue calendar invites on iPhone?

Hi Janine,

Based on reports I am seeing in the official Nextcloud support issues that functionality should work from the iPhone but the details are patchy. Unfortunately none of our staff have access to iPhones to test this functionality.

Can you confirm ou are able to send the invites for the same calendar directly from the NextCloud interface in https://share.mayfirst.org ?

There are some caveats mentioned in the NextCloud issues in the contact of sending invitations from Android but they might apply for iPhone as well, "if you are writing to a calendar that is shared by someone else, invitations aren't sent", "if the organizer property doesn't match the e-mail address defined in Nextcloud, invitations aren't sent".

Thanks Jaime! I can confirm that I'm able to send and receive email for that calendar in the Nextcloud interface at share.mayfirst.org. Those caveats are helpful, but I don't think they're applicable here as it's my personal calendar and the email address is my own. Any other thoughts on what to test?
