Discourse on Mayfirst

Dear MFs.

I'm analyzing the possibility to install a Discourse instance for a community of Designers to work on social and natural impact.

Having read https://support.mayfirst.org/wiki/discourse, I'd like to know if it's possible to do so here, since that documentation seemed analogous to use the common Nextcloud instance with private circles...

As always, thanks a lot for your great work. :)

Running discourse on one of our shared servers isn't really feasible under our current infrastructure. Discourse is a Ruby on Rails app that needs to be run in a docker container and uses a considerable amount of resources. To set this up you would likely need a virtual private server. We can provide virtual private servers for members however the install and maintenance of Discourse would be your own responsibility. Under our new proposed dues structure but we would ask you to contribute and additional $37.50 dollars a month for a VPS at the lowest tier.

Thanks a lot for the clear answer. That is a lot of money for Argentina, so I'll close this ticket for now.

Again, thank you. :)
