If it's not too much trouble, I was hoping it would be possible to run docker containers on I found a list of system prerequisites on It looks like currently does not meet these prerequisites.

I'm not sure if this is something that would be allowed, so no hard feelings if it's not. It would just be nice to be able to run containerized software here.

Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave - Thanks for checking in. I wasn't aware of rootless docker - so I'm glad you asked.

However, alas, I don't think we'll be able to make any changes in our server setup to accomodate it. Our shared servers are already doing a lot (web plus email and, on most servers, MySQL too). It's a delicate balance, and throwing docker into the mix would introduce an dose of unpredicatability that I don't think is worth the risk.

Many members, however, run their own priviate virtual servers - and that would be an option for you as well. We generally ask members who need private servers to kick in more in dues - typically $50/month or more depending on your ability to pay.
