#16051 assigned Bug/Something is broken

Mayfirst Listserv messages are needing approval?

Description

Good Day,

I have setup one of our email lists "NLGSF-BOARD" to function without moderation. However when the owner of the list sent a message this morning it told her that it "needed moderator approval". Why is that happening and how can I change it to not happen in the future.

In addition to that it seems the message is not sending either.

I see the owner of the list set to sara@… Is that correct?

An owner of a list also needs to be a subscriber in order for their mails to be sent to the list. But that does seem to be the case for sara. Normally mailman will explain the reason a message has been held. Do you have the e-mail reporting the held message that was sent to sarah?

She just forwarded it to me. I have copied the text of the message below.

It seems that the message is too big to automatically post. But I did login to the dashboard and approve the message. Did it not post because she is not subscribed? And also can I change the message size restriction?

Best, Brit

Is being held until the list moderator can review it for approval.

The reason it is being held:

Message body is too big: 65061 bytes with a limit of 40 KB

Either the message will get posted to the list, or you will receive notification of the moderator's decision. If you would like to cancel this posting, please visit the following URL:

The message should have been delivered after you approved the held message. Sorry- I can see I wasn't clear above, I meant to express that sarah does appear to be subscribed so everything indicates that the size of the message was the problem.

And yes, you can change this restriction. In the general options, linked below, look for and change the value for the field "Maximum length in kilobytes (KB) of a message body. Use 0 for no limit. (Edit max_message_size)" https://lists.mayfirst.org/mailman/admin/nlgsf-board/general

Let me know if you can't find this or if you'd like me to change this for you.
