#15475 assigned Bug/Something is broken

Sending and receiving emails by domain

Reported by: FreeScholar Owned by: JaimeV
Priority: High Component: Tech
Keywords: email, smtp Cc:

Description

Some folks are having issues either sending email or receiving email due to incorrect settings for their mail server. Somewhere it is coded as mail.mayfirst.org instead of their domain name, it has mail.mayfirst.org in the system. So they do receive email if sent to user@…, but not at user@…. I found this when setting up email addresses for users in the @globaljusticecenter.org people.

I did find that I can change this address in Roundcube, but there seems to be another instance - where else is this hard-coded? Not sure if this is a bug or something I missed in the help pages...

Because of the way our system is set up any user can receive mail at username@… although this shouldn't interfere with their configured e-mail address using their own domain. Roundcube allows for creating "identities" which simply change the "From:" address on outgoing mail but shouldn't affect their incoming mail.

If you give me some examples of addresses that aren't receiving correctly I can check if there is something else wrong.
