Time out with POP on roe

One of the funds is having a problem (with all of their users) where the pop connection is timing out - so they can't send or receive mail using their mail client. Web login is fine. (and their general internet access seems fine.)

I can pop and imap in no problem, and there is nothing untoward looking in the logs.

Any tips? They say nothing has changed. I'm thinking it's just their problem, but it seems a strange one.

Hi Michelle,

I've seen a particularly problem with Outlook that is a bit more limited than your description. Specifically - sending email times out on occassion, even when POP/IMAP are working fine.

I believe JonG did some work on this issue with Neighborhood Preservation Center and he contributed a wiki change to the outlook configure page? suggestion that if you are running Outlook 2007, specifying TLS instead of SSL for outgoing mail is better.

Do you think this could be the issue?

Turns out, it was an ISP problem.
