Password resetting in member control panel

Description

Hiya!

So I have access to our mail server to make new email addresses, change forwarding, etc. But I also want to reset the password on an organizational thing. I see in the control panel a thing where you can make a hash to do that but I then don't know what to do with that hash to actually reset it? If you could explain that to me it'd be super helpful.

If you are logged into the MFPL control panel as a user with member level or hosting order admin privileges then you can reset the passwords for any of the users under your membership.

Also any user can change a password if you they know the existing password here:

And if you need a new password sent to you try this:

Hi, yeah, I got that--I have hosting order admin privileges--but what I'm saying is I'm confused about how that password reset works. I tried doing it, and it made a hash, but now I can't figure out how to actually use the reset to log in to that user. And I can't try to do it again until the hash expires.

After executing the password reset should have received an e-mail with instructions. Following the link in the e-mail should be sufficient to login as that user. I'm not sure what hash you are referring to.

Who receives the email? Is it whoever the billing contact is? Because if it's the billing contact, that's the problem, as I don't actually know who that is and it's highly likely that person isn't with the organization anymore.

Can you tell which user you are trying to reset the password for? I can lookup the billing contact for the membership. Also if you have hosting order admin privileges you can just change their password directly via the control panel under the user tab.

Aaaah, okay, I didn't realize I could do that. Thank you, that helped! All set now. We need to figure out some organizational structure stuff soon, but immediate issue is sorted, thanks so much for your patience!
