MySQL fine tuning on foucault.mayfirst.org

TNP has been getting some error messages that max_user_connections have been reached when running some Drupal migrations (backup_migrate module). Is it possible to add foucault.cnf file to Puppet similar to colin.cnf to add similar fine tuning to MySQL?

And in fact, TNP is reporting that they been getting the max_user_connection errors since migrating foucault from florence to linda.

I've copied the custom config changes for colin to./modules/mayfirst/files/mysql-server/foucault.cnf , added 'm_mysql::config { "foucault.cnf": }' to foucault's manifest, and pushed puppet changes to foucault.

Thanks for this Jaime, but as per the IRC chat, it looks like this caused MySQL to fail to load. To fix the immediate problem I commented out all the lines in the new foucault.cnf file and manually started MySQL. I'm not sure what the procedure for rolling back puppet changes is. I'm also not sure which line in the configuration file is causing the problem. Can you take a look?

Oh no, sorry about that. I misunderstood that you wanted exactly the changes that were made in colin. In hindsight it was the change to the innodb_log_file_size and innodb_buffer_pool_size that probably caused mysqld to fail on foucault. I've fixed that by doing a clean shutdown of mysql and moving /var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile* out of the way before applying the new changes. That seems to have resolved the issue now. You may want to check that everything in that new config is actually what you want. Copying jamie for more input.

Thanks, Jaime. Cheers for sorting out the underlying issues. I'll let you know if TNP continues to have issues.
