Dues for dedicated VM?

The Massachusetts Pirate Party is entertaining the idea of moving from shared hosting to a dedicated VM, and we'd like to get an idea of how that would affect our dues.

We're interested in installing a message board application, and have been looking at Discourse Discourse is a ruby application, which is only distributed as a docker image. The docker build insists on installing files in /var/discourse, and that's problematic for a MOSH.

As part of this decision making progress, we'd like to know what our dues would be with a dedicated VM. For discourse + existing web applications, I think we'd be looking at 2GB of RAM and two cores.

Hi Steve - great to hear!

We try hard to allocate the resources groups need and ask them to pay what they can afford.

so... I don't have a solid price, but the range for a dedicated server goes from $600/year to $3600. And, the "specs" don't necessarily correspond to price. Instead, we try to give you a bit more than you really need, but not too much more (because we can always adjust up later if necessary).

Thanks for the info. That's a little out of our budget right now, so we will look at alternatives to discourse instead.
