Email for Dawn is super slow

This is a rudimentary way of describing the problem, but email for dawn@… is really slow.

It's taking up to an hour sometimes for him to receive email. What can we do to improve speed?

It took a lot of work getting him set up and he's remote so I don't have access to his computer to check setting etc.

Mail is usually delivered to the MFPL servers very quickly unless there is a problem with postfix on our end or we are blocking the sending server for some reason.

I see a mail sent to both of you from a gmail address at 11:46am EST this morning. It was immediately delivered to each of your Maildirs in chavez upon arrival. Now, that means your host received the mail but for you to see that mail has been delivered you need to retrieve it with an e-mail client, either our webmail client or your own dedicated client.

You e-mail clients should be looking at to check for new mail. In the logs there I can see that your e-mail client, probably a dedicated client on your computer or phone, logged in at 11:50am EST using the imap protocol, so you might have seen the mail then.

Dawn's e-mail client appears to have logged in at 11:57am EST using the pop3 protocol, and the connection appears to be coming from google so it looks like dawn is probably using gmail's option to connect to 3rd party servers and is using gmail as a pop3 client to pull mail from into their gmail inbox. In theory it should have been immediately visible but at that point it is no longer up to the MFPl servers but in the hands of the e-mail client.

Can you give me an example of a particular e-mail that dawn didn't see until very late? If you can include the full message headers here that will help.

Hey friends. Dawn is still having issues with this delay in receiving emails.

Per your last response - I will have him pull the headers - can you remind me how to go about doing that? (we are also needing to do that for you re: the issue of email going to recipient junk/spam folders).

If it's an issue with the way the gmail 3rd party server configuration - do you have any suggestions for how to go about troubleshooting this? We really want to keep things simple for Dawn, part of this means having gmail as the central hub for several email addresses. But if doing so means these constant delays, we are going to have to re-think the cost vs. benefits. Thanks in advance for your help and advice,
