#12097 assigned Bug/Something is broken

DNS control panel isn't working for me

Reported by: takethestreets Owned by: Jamie McClelland
Priority: Medium Component: Tech
Keywords: dns, red Cc:
Sensitive: no

Description

Last week, I created a CNAME entry in Red: https://members.mayfirst.org/cp/index.php?area=hosting_order&service_id=9&hosting_order_id=809&action=edit&item_id=167660

However, a week later, the entry isn't on a.ns.mayfirst.org or b.ns.mayfirst.org:

dig @b.ns.mayfirst.org +short ebmccivi.palantetech.coop

Earlier entries seem OK and unaffected.

It's working now but I haven't yet tracked down the problem.

I disabled the AAAA record for puppet.palantetech.coop because you already have a CNAME for puppet.palantetech.coop and you can't have a CNAME for a domain that has another definition. And, the target for the CNAME (meat) already had the same AAAA record.

I then re-submitted the ebmccivi record but still didn't work until I manually ran knotc reload - at which point it started working for both a and b.ns.mayfirst.org. The reload should be issued after every new record is added.

Still working on it.
