#11957 closed Feature/Enhancement Request (fixed)

Are there some Postgres DB backups on some machines (for members) ?

I was reading #7869 juste passing by. I am not sure if I can understand that Postgres DB on chelsea are backuped?

  • Have things changed since that time ?
  • Would it be possible to add a few other hosts for automatic backup ?
  • I makes me think to a theoretical security kind of issue, if I have read that if they are no DB it may cause a problem (but there is always a postgres DB and a few other administrative DB in appearance). This is because I never tested if members can delete their Postgres DB, which could produce a situation with no more DB.

By the way, I can make DB backups, I do not need them. Sure it will be a nice feature to have some day.

Yes it appears the puppet module described in that ticket was implemented and is now deployed automatically to servers running postgres. Backups of all postgres dbs are being made locally to each of those servers daily and synced to remote storage where the last 5 days of backups are held.
