Description

Hi!

It seems that sometimes when people send me an email me by hitting reply to a message I have sent them the email goes to <myfirstname.lastname@…>; I do not receive the messages in my Mozilla inbox. I learned about it because another person on an email to several recipients forwarded the email to me noting the different email address.

a) what do I need to do to correct this? b) is there a place to retrieve the messages going to <myfirstname.lastname@…>.

Thank you.

If you send messages using webmail, you will need to change your settings to reflect the email address you want the world to see when they hit reply.

If you send messages via Thunderbird/Mozilla - you can change these settings in Thunderbird as well (click Edit -> Account Settings or Tools -> Account Settings - you should see an option to enter your From and Reply-to addresses).

Regardless, if someone sends you a message at you.login.name@your-primary-server.mayfirst.org it should be delivered to you.

Can you post the exact email address the message was sent to and the approximate date/time it was sent?

From ticket #1109:

the email I know of was sent Friday, June 06, 2008 5:57 PM, it went to "Felicia Mayro"@chavez.mayfirst.org

I think the tools settings in Mozilla were not set correctly for "reply address", so thank you. Does this mean any "lost emails" might be in my webmail account?

Thanks

Hi Felicia,

If your reply-to address in Mozilla was set to "Felicia Mayro"@chavez.mayfirst.org then most likely those messages were not delivered anywhere since that address doesn't exist on our servers :(. If it was sent to fmayro@chavez.mayfirst.org it should have been delivered because that account does exist.

Assuming your Mozilla is setup properly - there shouldn't be any difference between what you see in webmail and what you see in your Mozilla inbox - so unfortunately, I don't think you'll find any missing messages in webmail.
