#1034 closed Bug/Something is broken (fixed)

viewsic not properly authenticating users relaying email

Reported by: Jamie McClelland Owned by: Jamie McClelland
Priority: Urgent Component: Tech
Keywords: transfer-viewsic-2008-05 Cc:
Sensitive: no

Description

After the viewsic move, postfix stopped being all to relay mail for authenticated users.

Josue and I saw errors like the following in the mail.log:

May 26 12:34:14 viewsic postfix/smtpd[23706]: warning: c-98-204-30-158.hsd1.dc.comcast.net[98.204.30.158]: SASL PLAIN authentication failed: generic failure
May 26 12:34:14 viewsic postfix/smtpd[23706]: warning: SASL authentication failure: cannot connect to saslauthd server: Permission denied

That was because I neglected to add postfix to the sasl group.

We fixed it with:

adduser postfix sasl
